Abstract: Populace is in need of an instrument that is useful to calibrate a diverse range of views and opinions on globalisation found in the growing volume of literature. The instrument will help them exercise their own judgement for keeping their footing in the rapidly evolving economic and social conditions. Such a theoretical instrument is developed here by placing globalisation in historical perspective and visualising it as an evolutionary process of human interaction. This theoretical instrument explicates the inherent nature of today's globalisation to dichotomise human society. It also helps to explain why many nations experience societal stresses and instability today. The instrument also helps to identify obstacles which globalisation needs to overcome before reaching its logical destination of the borderless world, as well as the prospective measures to enhance its sustainability.
