Abstract: Fluid dynamics in phase separation system subject to a vibration perpendicular to gravity is analysed by using a lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) based on the He-Shan-Doolen (HSD) model. The vibrations considered correspond to sinusoidal translations of a rigid cavity at a fixed frequency. Interaction between gravity and vibration-induced convection is studied. The ability of applied vibration to influence the phase separation behaviour and deposition is investigated.
