Environmental problems of modern societies

Abstract: Man's concern about his environment and technosystem is only slowly reaching the level of awareness and seriousness which would be adequate to meet the threats and challenger before him. The magnitude of human activity is in every possible measure approaching that of the living Nature. Yet we lack conceptual patterns for an understanding of what all of this might came to mean to man himself and to Nature, and for seeing the new directions for real development. In this paper such mental patterns are presented, strategic questions of development raised, and answers outlined. The concept of entropy is regarded as being highly important for any proper understanding of the technosystem.
