Freeze-frame video: A hybrid technology for rapid visual problem-solving
by Cynthia E. Keen
International Journal of Technology Management (IJTM), Vol. 2, No. 5/6, 1987

Abstract: Freeze-frame video, a hybrid technology which transmits still video images over ordinary telephone lines, has been available as a tool to increase productivity for over twenty years. Until recently, the acceptance factor of the video telephone has been very low. Even today, the technology, its advantages and limitations and its many applications have been poorly understood. Used properly, the video telephone can function as a very efficient rapid visual problem solver in industrial, medical, educational, scientific and security applications.
