Worldwide telecommunications technology transfer

Abstract: International transfer of technology is a significant factor in the redistribution of economic power on a worldwide scale. Telecommunications technology is one of the major business sectors in this respect, and has been the vehicle through which many countries have sought to enhance industrial progress. Important factors in the transfer of technology include: the changing business and marketing environment, the relationship between provider and receiver, and the mechanism for financing the transaction. The author examines specific examples of telecommunications technology transfer which have involved ITT (Alcatel).
