The next stage after quality assurance: ''total quality'' techniques, as applied in a metallurgical laboratory

Abstract: The laboratory of the Central Testing Department of the Cegedur-Pechiney Group provides testing facilities and technical assistance within the Group. Having previously established normal quality assurance procedures within the laboratory, it was decided to offer a more cost-effective and technically improved service by introducing ''total quality''. Costs and the ''customers'' reactions to the laboratory's work were closely monitored, and a schedule established for ''total quality''.
