Abstract: This paper examines the programme of operations necessary or desirable for the legal protection of technological know-how, and shows how such a programme can be adapted to the general management of technology. Application of the mode of thinking mandated by the protection of intellectual property can be a guide in the assembling of technological information and its management and maintenance as a commercial property. Those companies that do not have their own intellectual property departments could benefit from a closer relationship with an external legal adviser in this field.
