UK perspective on stimulating the exploitation and commercialisation micro-nano technology

Abstract: The UK Government identified micro and nano technologies as a key future driver for economic success and in 2003 initiated a £90m programme to support the development of the UK's MNT capability. This paper will review the success of this programme and look to the future activities within the UK, in particular how the MNT Nanotechnology is planning to meet the goals of the UK Technology Strategy Board and achieve its mission to support the exploitation and commercialisation of micro and nanotechnologies through informing, linking and facilitating innovation and collaborations between suppliers and users with the aim of strengthening the supply chains and building a powerful UK community. A key element of the strategy is to forge links between UK organisations and organisations in other countries.
