The development and use of common software interfaces in testbed environments

Abstract: The automotive industry needs to run a huge number of different testbed environments to check vehicle parts for wear effects before series manufacturing. The ''Activity Group for the Standardisation of Automation and Measuring Systems'' (ASAM) has the goal to establish proper standards which can help to reduce costs and time when installing new testbeds and updating/modifying existing testbeds. The working-out of standards is performed in nested loop processes which involve all participating companies. The utilisation of state-of-the-art base technologies like CORBA helps to additionally reduce development time while providing extended features such as networking and object-oriented design.
