Abstract: We have numerically calculated the time-dependent response of a miniband semiconductor superlattice under an intense terahertz electric field, using the balance equation approach. The harmonics of the average electron velocity are carefully studied with the change of the static electric field, while fixing the amplitude and the frequency of the terahertz field. The numerical results indicate that the resonant peaks show up at the static electric field corresponding to the Bloch oscillation frequency ωΒ = mω. The calculated power of second harmonics as a function of static electric field is in good agreement with the experimental results.
