Abstract: Bandstructure and electron eigenstates in terahertz Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs) are studied by using the Quantum Transmitting Boundary Method (QTBM). It has several advantages compared to the commonly used Transfer Matrix Method (TMM). The numerical stability and efficiency make it more applicable in the study of semiconductor heterostructures with multiple quantum wells, such as quantum cascade lasers. It is also very flexible to treat different structures with only minor changes in the implementation.
