Abstract: Laser processing has become an efficient tool in industrial manufacture. Combined pulse laser exhibits an inestimable application potential in micro-hole drilling for its integration of advantages in long pulse laser and ultra-short pulse laser. To investigate the effect of laser parameters and trajectory in combined pulse laser drilling, several experiments were designed and conducted on copper sheets. The results showed that the pulse width and energy distribution among multi-pulse of the long pulse laser have significant effect on the diameter of the base hole. The effect of the spiral trajectory of the ultra-short pulse laser is vital to the features of the hole processed. Moreover, experiments showed that the drilling efficiency could be increased by 75%-86% using combined pulse laser under determined parameters.
