Special issue on: “Knowledge Management in Practice”

Guest Editor: Dr. Kuan Yew Wong, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia

Theoretical research and discussion on the underlying backgrounds, concepts and principles of Knowledge Management (KM) are abundant in the literature. Generally, it is a multi-faceted discipline that can be defined and viewed from a variety of perspectives. Because of this, many organisations are confused as to how to transform or realise KM in practice. In addition, many of them are also sceptical about it; e.g. is it a “nice to have” terminology created by academics and consultants, or is it a robust strategy that can bring demonstrable benefits to practitioners?

Without doubt, practical oriented research is essential, if not more important than theoretical studies. Organisations need insights and guidance gained from real world situations to help them work with KM. This special issue aims to attract high quality papers reporting on relevant case studies, surveys, experiences, success stories, real world examples and practices of KM. The focus is on publishing highly informative articles that will be of immediate practical use and application to readers. Contributions from academics, consultants and practitioners are all very welcome.

Subject Coverage
Case studies, experiences, practices etc that are of interest can be centred on (but are not limited to):
  • Any of the follwoing aspects: the design, development, implementation, management, optimisation, evaluation, performance measurement, maintenance, etc. of a KM initiative or system

  • Other relevant topics
