In relation to the digitalisation of networks, crowdfunding represents a way to support the successful delivery of innovations demanded directly by consumers. In this paper, we have tried to analyse the differences in success factors of funded innovative projects to those rather regular ones using econometric analysis. The analysis was based on a dataset of over 250,000 registered projects on the Kickstarter platform from different categories. Using statistical testing we have discovered significant differences in innovative projects success factors over the ones for regular projects. From the analysed dataset, we have discovered a significant difference in the success rate of funded projects, with a higher success rate of the regular ones compared to the innovative projects. We developed an online learning setting where technical graduate students practice and gain knowledge on innovation and entrepreneurship themes and we evaluate which LMS provided better user experience. The evaluation included 70 students in total, 37 in the Moodle condition and 33 in Sakai condition. Results indicated that the students in the Moodle condition reported to have slightly better learning experience compared to the students in Sakai condition. The follow-up interviews with the students highlighted positive and negative experiences related to features and options of the different platforms, their influence on student learning, and the different ways to organise contents in them. The qualitative feedback suggests learners want an affective connection with the contents and demand for high quality of learning materials. These data provide empirical evidence of the learning gains offered by the two different LMS and provide practical guidelines for education designers on how to design education experiences on both of the platforms. Abstract: The extant literature has examined the role of institutional investors on influencing corporate strategies, yet it has overlooked the distinct incentives and motives of these institutions. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between R%D investment and institutional investors' ownership taking into account their heterogeneous behaviours. Based on a sample of French high-tech firms, the authors estimate a panel data design with the generalised method of moments (GMM) to account for the unobserved heterogeneity and the dynamic nature of the panel data. The results show that the effects of institutional investors on R%D investment differ according to their types. Pressure-sensitive institutional investors (institutions with potential business relationship with the investee firms), and mainly banks, are negatively associated with R%D investment intensity. Conversely, pressure-insensitive institutional investors and mainly pension funds are positively associated with R%D. The results highlight the role of institutional ownership on R%D decisions and encourage firms to attract pressure-insensitive institutional investors to promote innovation and long term performance. One of the most difficult problems in construction is taking an objective decision. This study aims to identify the key decisions that affect the construction projects' success, analyse the bad decisions problem in Iraq construction projects, and propose a set of corrective actions. Brainstorming, case study, and experts' interview techniques were used to achieve the study goals. The study results identified 51 decisions that affect the success of construction projects during the life cycle, nine of these decisions have the most degree of effect. Also, this study identified 19 key causative factors to bad decisions in construction projects. Then, this study proposed seven criteria to select the qualified decision-makers, in addition to nine actions to enhance the process of decision making in Iraq construction projects. Journal: Int. Despite its practical and scientific importance, little is known about what drives microenterprise managers to export. This study aims to bridge this gap by elaborating the export drivers from the perspective of microenterprises. The above-described can be condensed to the following research question: What are the drivers for exporting perceived by the managers of microenterprises? This multiple case study answers the research question by analysing export drivers in ten Finnish microenterprises. A framework of export drivers (Leonidou et al., 2007) was devised in this analysis. This study provided an in-depth analysis of the export drivers in a microenterprise context and summarised the findings in a preliminary framework. Based on this analysis, the drivers related to human resources, marketing, domestic market, foreign market, home government and customers are central to microenterprise export. Journal: Int. The mathematical model was formulated based on minimising the total operational costs whereas the constraint functions were formulated based on situations that should be met, such as satisfying demand and supplier capacity limits. Numerical experiments were performed with randomly generated data to evaluate the model and to illustrate how the optimal decision was made. Results showed that the model successfully solved the given problem, and the optimal decision was derived, i.e., the optimal product amount of each product type that should be purchased to each supplier and the product amount of each product type that should be stored in the warehouse for each observation time period. This concluded that the proposed model can be used by decision-makers to solve their supply chain problems. Journal: Int. The new sustainable business approaches and management practices that emerged during the COVID-19 era have increased business' resilience to social, environmental, and financial problems. Sustainable business management requires knowledge about relevant research in sustainable business management, regarding both the COVID-19 era and future trends. Therefore, this study used a systematic literature review to identify future research themes related to sustainable business management in the post-COVID-19 era. Based on an analysis of current research tendencies related to the COVID-19 pandemic and sustainable business management practices, six research themes were proposed for integrated studies in manufacturing and service industries. These findings contribute to the current literature by providing a new perspective on research into sustainable business management in the post-COVID-19 era. Journal: Int. Abstract: This study focuses on the possible links between the main revenues obtained from the financial statements of soccer clubs, players' registration rights (PRRs), and sports success. The topic is developed by processing much data from the Italian Premier League Soccer Championship (year 2017/2018) and a sample of 100 financial statements of Italian Serie A clubs for the period between 2013/2014 and 2017/2018. The data were analysed by the models of 'linear regression' and 'fixed effects for panel data' for more consecutive years. The study showed that there is a virtuous circle between the main revenues, players' registration rights, and sports success. The main revenues (TV rights, sponsors, and advertising) increase the PRRs and the possible capital gains derived from the termination that are often necessary to achieve the conditions of economic and financial balance required to register for soccer leagues. Investing in players' registration rights also leads to better sports results. Journal: Int. The roles of healthcare professional and manager can be conflicting, and it is important to know what practical implications this has on healthcare business growth management. In this multiple case study, we use the growth management framework for general service businesses based on literature synthesis by Muhos et al. (2017) to identify the characteristics and underlying features of management in healthcare business. The data consist of 12 interviews among Finnish healthcare companies. As the main outcome, we present an adapted version of the stages of growth model for healthcare business and identify the contextual characteristics that are related to growth motivation and business competence of entrepreneurs, commitment and competence of employees, public sector relations, and regulation. Further, we adapt some of the original assumptions to better describe growth management in the context of healthcare service business including the conflicting roles of manager and healthcare professional, central of public sector and regulation, as well as growth motivation and business competence of entrepreneurs. These findings provide practical benefits for business owners as the framework assumptions can be used as a checklist when getting prepared for business growth. Journal: Int. We develop a model comprising of adaptive capability, entrepreneurial orientation, marketing capability and innovativeness, and investigate their link to firm performance using a sample of 243 Vietnamese retail-sector companies. We also include firm age and type (registered or traditional) in the hypotheses. The result of structural equation modelling indicates that entrepreneurial orientation and innovativeness are directly linked to firm performance in this context, whereas adaptive capability and marketing capability are indirectly linked. Additionally, firm age was found to link to performance. Our findings have implications to context-based research in dynamic capabilities for SMEs. They also suggest, particularly, that Vietnamese SMEs should strengthen their entrepreneurial orientations and innovativeness further to improve their performance. Journal: Int. An analytical study of the opinions of a sample of academic leaders at the University of Kirkuk Abstract: Using a knowledge-based perspective, this study examines how knowledge management processes influence reducing the strategic drift and then looks into the moderating role of knowledge leverage strategies. The research discovered a considerable favourable influence of knowledge management processes on reducing strategic drift. The evaluation also indicated that knowledge leverage strategies have a substantial moderating effect on reducing the strategic drift, particularly its effect on reducing the absence of strategic planning. The study's importance originates from the paucity of research on knowledge management processes and studies on knowledge leverage tactics as a predictor of reduced strategic drift. Additionally, there has been little research on the impact of knowledge leverage techniques on the relationship between knowledge management practices and strategic drift. This research is one of the earliest to look into these interconnections. Journal: Int. The data collected is randomly split into two sub datasets (50% each), exploratory factor analysis is applied on the first sub dataset, and CFA and SEM tools are applied on the other sub set of data to test the relationship and effect across variables. The model presented in the study fits the data well in the Yemeni context, and exhibits the significance of legal factors, temporary factors, and managerial factors on the performance of SMEs; while, financial factors, infrastructure factors and marketing factors are found insignificant in affecting SMEs' performance. The findings of this study add to the scant literature pertaining to SMEs and their performance in least developed economies in the Middle East - Yemen in particular. Further, the proposed model would be of benefit to policy-makers, practitioners, development partners and SMEs owners and managers from perspectives of identifying the characteristics of a conducive business environment by measuring the determinants of the survival/failure of the business in such environment. In this context, application and optimisation of resilience capability in electricity distribution networks (EDNs) can play key roles in meeting the challenges and achieving competitive advantages. Accordingly, this paper aimed to address issues pertaining to identify technical and managerial components of resilience in the EDNs and to model relationships among them. Resilience elements and main factors were identified through extensive literature review and inquire about experts viewpoints in this sector. Also, second order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied to model and evaluate how they relate to each other and total resilience capability. Obtained results offer a coherent view of the subject that contribute to provide more in-depth insights into the role of each element and main factor for developing the management system resilience in the EDNs. Social capital and public investors - the Austrian perspective Abstract: The underlying study was concerned with governmental venture capital which is grounded in the assumption of market failure and financing gaps for technological start-ups (Güllmann, 2000; Brettel, 2005). The aim of the study was to examine the venture capital market in Austria at the macro and the micro level. First hand collected survey data and secondary data sources were analysed by means of descriptive statistics in order to examine the effectiveness of the public involvement and the public investors' network, syndication rationales and mentoring procedures. The results revealed financing constraints in the later stages of the Austrian venture capital market again (Gassler et al., 2018; Friedl et al., 2019) and also showed that the public investors maintained comprehensive and diverse networks. Therefore, they should also play a pivotal role for the support of regional innovation ecosystems (Pierrakis and Saridakis, 2019) and not for the provision of financings alone. Journal: Int. The objectives of this review are: 1) to identify the major and emerging supply chain issues in SME retailing using keyword co-occurrences; 2) to find the commonly used modelling approaches in different SME retail sectors; 3) to propose a framework to map the future research avenues. The co-word analysis resulted in the identification of four major ongoing research themes, namely 'consumer behaviour', 'supply chain', 'customer value', and 'food retailing', while 'service quality' is identified as an emerging theme. Among the major research themes, 'food retailing' has received recent attention, especially among the developing countries. Regression, factor analysis, structural equation modelling and descriptive statistics are the most commonly used modelling approaches. Practitioners and decision-makers could use the supply chain issues identified to develop further strategies for improving SME retailers' performance. Journal: Int. We have been witnessing not only an unprecedented interruption in the world economy, but also a mass closure of local businesses. Small businesses have been struggling since the beginning of the pandemic, and many small brick and mortar stores were closed permanently. The effect on business activities will be felt in 2021 and beyond. Small business will stop to exist if they are not built on online business but event-driven stationary retail. The worst thing - especially during the pandemic - for everyone is the lack of planning security - the presence of uncertainty. No one knows when the next lockdown will occur, how long it will last, what its effects will be, and who exactly will be affected. The research was based on a small case study and captures the impression of six different companies. It confirms the findings of other studies but also contributes to different findings.
