Currently, the approach in waste elimination involves eliminate wastes in the production system after investigating the designated production system in the operation. The developed effective series link production system identified the required parts, segregated the parts into parent groups and pre-determined the process cycle time for each group. Then, an effective production layout was designed to eliminate wastes prior to setting up the actual production layout. Results of this research as implemented in a case study industry show that the design layout should have 23 workstations instead of 25 in the actual production layout. Therefore, waste elimination by lean manufacturing concept in minimising the transportation, motions of workers and over-processing was successfully achieved in the design of the production layout. In the phases of this model, single intrinsic factors in pairing for innovation refer to pairing individuals based on a single internal factor, such as a particular demographic or personality trait. Conversely, single extrinsic factors in the model signify a single external influence on pairing for innovation, such as postsecondary instructor guidance of pairs. The primary objective of the pairing for innovation model in this article is to guide management higher education instructors and faculty members in their pairing of students for generation of innovation to solve problems within and advance the management field. Statistics inculcates that a number of industries subsists, which are using different forms of advanced manufacturing technologies. 'Advanced manufacturing technology' is a generic term, depicting an assembly of manufacturing technologies, which combines both extent and scale capabilities in a manufacturing environment. Advanced manufacturing technology is broadly defined by distinguished authors in their terminologies; Small and Chen say's that "an automated production system of people, equipment and utensils for the planning and control of the production process, including the procurement of materials, parts and constituents and the shipment and service of completed products." In meticulous, advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) can be defined as any new manufacturing technique, which is likely to cause constructive changes in a firm's manufacturing practices, management systems and its approach for the designing and production of various engineering products. It then examined buyer-supplier geographical distance and the choice of procurement channel as moderators of the effect of degree of produce perishability on quality uncertainty. In order to test the relationship among the research variables, four hypotheses were developed and tested with survey data from 239 food processing firms. The results show that information asymmetry and the degree of produce perishability have very strong positive influence on quality uncertainty. However, the influence of perishability is positively moderated by the degree of produce perishability and negatively by the choice of procurement channel. Journal: Int. On the basis of Guna doctrine from Indian psycho-philosophy, the present paper identified different types of personalities to manage a diverse workforce. The author first reviewed the existing literature and explored the overt and covert dimensions of diversity. Thereafter, Indian Darshan was explored on how the personality at the deeper level can be defined. In that context, Guna Personality was identified to understand diversity at the deep level. Further, to facilitate the managers to practically use this Indian psychoanalytical approach at the workplace, different psychological team roles are identified to mange team composition at the workplace. The holistic view of personality, unlike in the previous conceptualisation wherein physiological parameters were dominated, is emphasised in this paper. Journal: Int. Accordingly some needs are regarded as salient whereas other needs are considered non-salient. The present investigation provides an empirical test of this pan-cultural model. Indian management students were administered with a multipart study behaviour questionnaire. They were asked to rank-order 16 study outcome factors. These include brand name of institution, gaining knowledge, cordial relationship, opportunity for higher studies, supportive learning environment, interesting course-work, sound policies, multi-skilling, healthy interpersonal relations, collaborative learning, professionally competent teachers, well-planned schedule, individual attention, freedom from social pressure, job prospect, and fair assessment. The model suggests that motivation is significantly related to salient need satisfaction. In contrast motivation is unrelated to non-salient need satisfaction. The examination of relationship between salient need satisfaction and motivation provided supportive evidence for the indigenous model. Journal: Int. Data for the study was collected from full-time teachers working in selected universities in Northern India. The study reports teachers to be moderately satisfied with the QWL in their universities and has identified the factors that influence the way employees perceive their QWL. The most important predictors of QWL of university teachers were identified to be growth and development, pay and recognition, work life balance followed by social integration. Among the demographic variables, age and position were found to be significantly affecting QWL. The results of the study will facilitate the institutions to conceptualise strategies that focus on enhancing the QWL of their employees, to ensure their long-term competitive advantage. The results also suggest that teachers with favourable QWL have a propensity to maintain long-term affiliation with their universities. Journal: Int. TQM is a comprehensive look which encompasses virtually every aspect of the value chain as well as the human resource and customer satisfaction. Therefore, a great number of companies feel obliged to implement its rules, and procedures. However, the concept is rather complicated and culture-bound, and calls for further research in new settings. The aim of this study is to examine the influences of critical success factors of TQM on customer focus therefore, employees are classified based on their perceptions from critical success factors of total quality management and consequently the level of customer focus is compared between the different classifications. The findings reveal that there is significant difference on the level of the customer focus between the established groups of employees. Journal: Int. The researcher compares and contrasts AACSB and CMMI-SVC, two prevalent but different quality models based on few high-level dimensions. For this comparison, the researcher reviews the relevant literature, including published quality standards on the two models. The paper concludes that both the quality models have their merits and demerits. AACSB may be able to take some elements from CMMI-SVC to strengthen its accreditation process. This study is a conceptual one without empirical data; it is a limitation. In the future, the researcher intends to develop the actual mapping of CMM-SVC's process areas and practices with AACSB's standards and their requirements. Journal: Int. Plant side capacity and storage restrictions are also considered in this analysis. The effect of this consideration on the supply chain profit is investigated. The model considers fixed cost, setup cost, and core demand. The complexity of the integrated production and distribution planning problems are empirically studied using this model. It is identified that the increase in the number of products increases the complexity than the increase in the number of retailers. Every subject domain has a dominant paradigm in which the research is carried out. This paper surveys various journal articles in finance, specifically in financial markets contagion and spillover effects, to find the research paradigms and finds that the dominant paradigm in finance and market contagion research is functionalism-positivist. This provides opportunities to conduct research in other paradigmatic approaches. This paper explores the possibility of using an interpretivist paradigm to the financial market contagion research. It is hard to find such a consolidated and plausible theory which may provide deep insight into the history and theory of management. This paper is theoretical, based on literature and philosophical analysis. It argues that human behaviours become a force and its treatment causes the variance in human management. The management with respect to human has periodically recognised these forces and acquired the tools for treatment of such forces. In this paper, theoretically through deductive-partial inductive approach, human forces are classified into six dimensions (gender, attain, social, relational, metaphysical and heredity force) and subsequently in four orientations of management (demo, socio, psycho-socio and meta-oriented management). Demo and socio-oriented management are explored with historical context, while the psycho-socio oriented management is argued with theoretical considerations, i.e., theories related to human work behaviour, performance, need and satisfaction. In last, a plausible argument is presented for meta-oriented management by considering its application in existing corporate structure management. Journal: Int. These activities are conducted widely in emerging economies such as India. There, internet penetration usage level in 2016 was 34.8% - primarily undertaken by young adults aged between 18-35 years. While there are multiple studies regarding online image, personal branding, digital sharing and consumption, no extant work has yet explored online activities in terms of projected individual online image though this has been explored offline in terms of self-marketing (Belk, 2013). This projection may be termed 'surrogate branding'. It refers to managing online individual images that help them become digital brands. To assess this further, ethnographic and netnography studies were utilised to understand behavioural patterns and gain insights. The findings revealed four significant dimensions related to surrogate branding of individuals. These are implantation, prenatal, embedded and exultation. Journal: Int. Abstract: Management theories have traditionally been based on concepts borrowed from western schools of philosophy with minimal influence of Indian philosophical thought. But with India emerging as an economic powerhouse post liberalisation, the age old philosophical traditions and concepts have received renewed attention from scholars for useful insights relevant to businesses. One such construct is 'Aparigraha' interpreted as non-possessiveness, non-greediness, generosity and non-envy. The importance of the practice of Aparigraha for present day businesses has been studied but sparingly. Literature pertaining to Aparigraha also lacks empirical demonstration of the tangible benefits accruing to organisations. The paper aims to bridge this gap by suggesting a methodological tool (use of experimental games) for testing the impact of practising Aparigraha on group performance in organisations. The study uses a variant of the multiplayer dictator game and concludes that a stronger belief in Aparigraha and practice of Aparigraha has a positive impact on group performance. Journal: Int. This study investigates how integration of (Eastern) Yin-Yang principles of seeking balance into Western concepts benefited Koreans in combating financial crises repercussions. Through analysis of 519 South Korean economic magazine covers taken over the period 2007-2012, the study shows the mindset of Korean society during the 2008 financial crisis. The covers provide a balanced interpretation of crisis events as both disastrous and opportunistic. Traditional Yin-Yang values therefore appear to be preserved in Korean management philosophy, even though contemporary Korean business strategies are strongly influenced by Western principles. By comparing these findings with social attitudes during previous crises in Korea, the study provides a real-life example of possible benefits of integrating Eastern and Western philosophy in management strategies.
