Excessive dependence on foreign finance by any country could lead to a debt trap in the long run. Therefore, it is become obvious to strengthen tax revenue performance for a country. This study tries to find major macro-economic determinants of tax revenue performance in India for the period 1981 to 2016 based on the availability of data. We propose a dynamic simultaneous equation model for the study. Empirical results suggest that growth, aid and trade are positively enlarging tax revenues. And inflation, development expenditure and agriculture contribution come out to be detrimental factors for tax revenues performance. Use of dynamic three-stage least square estimator helps us to trace possible channels through which tax revenue performance can be improved. Journal: Int. Bounds test results reveal a cointegrating relationship between variables in the long run. Both in the long and short run, economic growth tends to affect CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions positively. In the long run, energy consumption positively impacts CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions while CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions tend to be negatively affected by foreign direct investment. Furthermore, a robust check was performed through the FMOLS and DOLS to establish the long run effect. Moreover, we employed wavelet coherence based causality test which provided stronger supportive evidence to the long-run estimations of this study. The significance of this study stems from the uniqueness that to the best of our knowledge there has been no study combining these variables in addition to the fact that the econometric techniques employed have not been applied in conjunction to the subject for the case of Nigeria. Findings confirm the presence of long run equilibrium relationship between banking penetration, transport infrastructure and income for the panel. Panel FMOLS and DOLS results suggest that 1% increase in transport (roadways) infrastructure stocks and banking penetration increases the regional growth by 0.0620% to 0.06784% and 0.1836% to 0.1935%, respectively. Further, panel VECM-based causality results suggest that bidirectional causality between the regional growth and roadways infrastructure, banking penetration and regional growth, and banking penetration and roadways infrastructure respectively in long run. However, there is bidirectional causality between regional growth to roadways infrastructure, and banking outreach to roadways infrastructure, and unidirectional causality running from banking outreach to regional growth in the short run. Therefore, improving transport (roadways) infrastructure would be the right step towards regional growth in short run and long run as well. Journal: Int. Secondary data from 33 provinces of Indonesia took a part to complete research analysis. The findings of the research reveal such a strong spatial influence on Islamic bank financing. Jakarta and West Java Province ultimately luxuriate high value of financing, but Banten Province enjoy only low value of financing although it surrounded by the high value neighbour provinces, and Papua Province suffer from Islamic bank financing and also surrounded by the low value ones. Then it is found that Indonesia has seven provinces included in the category of neighbour less namely the Provinces of West Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, Bali, Bangka Belitung, and Riau Islands. The ARDL bounds test results reveal that the improved delivery of financial services, capital formation, per capita GDP, and urbanisation has a direct impact on electricity consumption in the long run. Further, the outcomes of the ARDL bounds and impulse response function confirm that after achieving a level of income, the electricity demand starts decreasing, as the adoption of electricity-efficient technology may reduce the marginal usage of electricity. Contrarily, even after achieving a threshold level of urbanisation the marginal impact of urbanisation on electricity usage has remained positive and significant. The subsystem is an autonomous vertically integrated production system that overcomes the horizontal traditional sectoral boundaries, while considering integration between manufacturing and services. Based on demand for intermediate services in the Chinese domestic market, the share of services in manufacturing is very low in terms of hours worked. However, this integration is higher in advanced countries. Furthermore, we found that the vertical integration of services in China is highly affected by technological intensity in manufacturing. Hence, the role of services in domestic linkages is quite modest, therefore technological tertiarisation - or the outsourcing of manufacturing - is still far off. Journal: Int. Our focus on Indonesia is intended to fill the knowledge gap on the world's 16th largest economy and fourth most populous country, where decentralisation efforts have resulted in increasing exports from its peripheral regions. Using panel fixed-effects model on provincial exports data covering 2000 to 2013, we find that exchange rate depreciation is positively and significantly associated with provincial exports, and exchange rate volatility tends to be negatively associated with exports. This implies that the export performance of a province depends upon not just managing cost competitiveness through the exchange rate regime but also other economic considerations such as the relative competitiveness of the provinces. The sample size consists of 1598 companies listed in Mumbai Stock Exchange (MSE) in India. Return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), profit after tax (PAT) and earning per share (EPS) are used as proxies for financial performance of Indian firms. The fixed effects regression model results revealed that the leverage ratio, liquidity ratio, size of company and company age have a significant and positive influence on the financial performance of Indian listed companies. The leverage ratio has a positive impact on return on equity (ROE) and negative effect on return on assets (ROA), profit after tax (PAT), and earning per share (EPS). The study recommended that managers should consider the leverage ratio in such a way that improves firms' financial performance. The current study provides useful insights for managers, analysts, regulators, investors, and other interested parties in the performance of Indian listed firms. Journal: Int. In the article the forms of impact of the shadow economy have been analysed. Its main social, political and economic implications have been determined. The analysis results of the indicators of the average GDP growth rates in EU member states in 1960-2016, showed that the current level of economic growth in Ukraine is much lower compared to other countries. Based on the analysis of static indicators of the social and economic stability (standard deviation, coefficient of variation, maximum and minimum value), direct and feedback links between the levels of economy shadowing and GDP have been demonstrated. In this case, the results of Granger test confirm specific hypotheses and determine the vectors of their interaction at different time horizons. Journal: Int. Tourism impacts are measured in terms of capital investment in the sector and contribution to total export revenues, while growth is considered in terms of growth in GDP per capita, services sector growth and aggregate employment. Using the autoregressive distributed lags (ARDL) approach to cointegration analysis, the study finds a unidirectional long run relationship running from tourism to economic growth in Nigeria. Moreover, it is found that the direct effect of tourism on growth is weak, rather a strong channelled impact of tourism sector development on economic growth in Nigeria is established. In the long run, tourism promotes services sector expansion and contributes significantly to overall employment growth in Nigeria. Journal: Int. Because of the interdependent relations among labour market flexibility, distance to world technology frontier and human capital investment, the Panel VAR methodology which account co-evolutionary relations in dynamic system is used. The data for 31 developing economies over the period 2000-2015 is used for the purpose of the study. Impulse response analysis shows that distance to frontier increases with labour market flexibility shock, while human capital investment decreases with labour market flexibility shock. Additionally, labour market flexibility decreases with the distance to frontier variable shock and distance to frontier decreases with the human capital investment shock. Results suggest that rigid labour market policies should be put in place first in developing countries to provide right incentives to invest in schooling, training, firm-specific skills and innovation resulting in convergence to the world technology frontier. Unlike previous studies, this research used extension Markowitz model to measure the market-based performance of ethical investments in Indonesia. In addition, this research also investigated whether gold was the safe haven instrument for the extension-Markowitz portfolio in Indonesia when the equity market was in extreme turmoil. The stocks from environmentally friendly firms (SRI) and Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) in Indonesia were used as the proxies of ethical investments. The results showed that the extension of Markowitz model could create an optimum portfolio that outperformed the market index. The result of this study supported the social impact hypothesis implying that environmental and social spending could improve stock market performance. Also, based on quantile regression (QREG) and ordinary least squares (OLS), this study found that gold was the safe haven and hedging instrument for ethical investors in Indonesia. Journal: Int. This study predicts that companies using reputable lead underwriter will have a low level of underpricing. We analyse 163 companies that conduct an IPO from 2010 to 2017. The analysis results show that the reputation of a lead underwriter has a negative and significant effect on underpricing. This finding has an implication in the selection of underwriter during the IPO. For companies, underpricing is considered as the cost of capital. The higher the level of underpricing, the higher is the cost of capital in the IPO. This means that the funds collected by the firm during IPO are not optimal. Therefore, the findings of this study could be considered in determining the lead underwriter during the IPO. Journal: Int. Through the regression estimates following both dynamic and static approaches in panel data models and the support of typical characteristics in funding structure of Vietnamese banks from 2007 to 2017, the study has the ideal tools to find the research results as expected, based on traditional accounting measures. The results show that equity capital and customer deposits have positive effects on bank liquidity positions. Further, the state ownership factor indicates no difference between liquidity behaviours of surveyed banks. These results are validated by alternative robustness checks from both linear and nonlinear specifications. Therefore, this study empirically investigates the role of financial sector development, among other relevant factors, in the economic growth of five ASEAN economies over the 1994-2017 period. It uses Kao and Fisher-Johansen co-integration tests to examine the presence of a long-run association among the variables. Furthermore, FMOLS method is used to determine the long-run estimates of the predictors' influences on the economic growth of those countries. The long-run outcomes of the estimation suggest that financial sector development and human development index have significant positive impact on the economic growth of those countries. Based on the findings, this study recommends ASEAN countries to embrace additional robust measures to improve the financial sector and human development in order to realise sustainable economic growth. This study seeks to explore the source of creative industries' business excellence from the supply chain side in the form of backward and forward linkages. This study takes Bandung City, a 'Creative City' according to UNESCO, as a case. This research uses regression methods on backward and forward linkages operations control to performance. The power of creative business comes from the superiority of backward linkages, that is, the source of its superiority is in resources availability and handling. Forward linkages do not have a significant effect. Nevertheless, in reality, both reinforce each other in shaping better business performance. The pattern of mixed sales, namely, direct sales and through distributors/agents always exhibit high performance in the form of production cost efficiency, customer service and product improvement. After conducting various statistical tests, AR(|2|) model incorporating input factors seems to be the most appropriate specification. The state space model suggests that the estimated parameters statistically illustrate the transitional productivity. The technological transfer via direct channels shows its negative productivity. The labour productivity sheds some light of positive signal to human capital improvement. The monetary credibility points to insignificant inflation uncertainty, while the foreign exchange uncertainty provides some benefit to Thai businesses. Finally, the international integration discourages the growth of Thailand. Journal: Int. Securitisation is becoming an indispensable tool for financing liquidity in the global capital market. Prior research has developed different models to analyse why a firm securitise its assets. The established models do not address if accounting measurement methods have different effects on loan securitisation. In our model, the bank's loan securitisation is jointly determined by the weight on earnings for each period and the marginal expected rate of return on new investments under the three measurement methods. This article explores the antecedents influencing visitors' experiences and intention behaviour with the aim of maximising the effectiveness of historical museums. Structural equational modelling is used to analyse a sample size of 309 visitors to the Museum of Vietnamese History in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The results reveal that perceived socio-cultural context (PSC) and interpersonal interaction (II) are significantly associated with museum visitor experience (MVE). In addition, perceived behavioural control (PBC), subjective norms (SN), and personal norms (PN) have significant effects on intention to revisit (IR) the museum. Moreover, the visitor experience has an essential role in increasing word of mouth (WOM) and stimulating positive IR, and WOM is significantly related to IR. The article concludes by providing implications for museum managers to improve the experience and intention behaviour of visitors in the international competitive market on cultural tourism. This means that the market function only works in the maturities of four, five and ten years. After the Bank of Japan (BOJ) introduces YCC policy under negative interest rate policy, the transmissions from JGB to swap are confirmed in all maturities except for two years. This means that the market function works in the maturities of three, four, five, seven and ten years under YCC policy with negative interest rate policy regime. Comparing before and after the introduction of YCC, the transmissions from JGB to swap are stronger after the introduction of YCC. The market function gradually recovers with the introduction of YCC because market participants assume that long-term interest rates will move above the level of 0% with more volatilities. More than 90% of JGBs are held by domestic investors. Thus, JGB and swap markets are less influenced by other international markets. Journal: Int. Using robust time series techniques, and considering both demand-side and supply-side explanations of the relationship between export and output growth, this paper finds empirical support for export-led growth hypothesis for India for long run and short run from supply-side as well as demand-side perspectives. The demand-side orientation appears to be the better explanation of this relationship during post-liberalisation period. The horizontal export diversification is observed to have U-shaped relationship with output growth. In terms of export composition (or vertical export diversification), share of manufactured exports bear a positive and significant relation with output growth, whereas the positive but insignificant impact of services exports on economic growth underlines the need for a rigorous policy action in this sector. The results of empirical estimation are further confirmed by lag-augmented vector autoregressive non-causality test. Journal: Int. The authors use the methods of systematisation and classification within the systemic approach. Also, the authors use formalisation and sociological survey for determining the significance of the factors of creation and functioning of AI. The respondents are 323 developers of AI in Russia in 2019. The results of the research showed that the processes of creation and functioning of AI are influenced by the social and anthropogenic factors. The social factors are primary - they are more significant and determine the anthropogenic factors. This shows that digital modernisation of economy based on AI is to serve the interests of acceleration of economic growth and increase of competitiveness of the economic system and (what is more important) the interests of increase of population's quality of life. Analytical techniques used include the current multidimensional poverty index, descriptive statistics and ordered probit regression. The results revealed that multiple deprivations are found mostly in the rural settings compared to urban areas. The standard of living dimension is largest contributor to multidimensional poverty in both rural and urban areas of Rwanda. In order to improve from multidimensional poverty and its determinants, policies towards supporting the promotion of women especially by reinforcing female's education and intensifying women's employment opportunities, strengthening family planning program and reducing poverty in regions with special focus on poverty reduction in rural areas, mainly in the western and northern provinces will be effective. In addition, supporting farmers who do not possess farmland and increasing vocation program may be also helpful for poverty reduction in Rwanda. Journal: Int. Crop insurance is the only available mechanism to mitigate production risk in farming. Agricultural insurance reduces fluctuations in farmer output by agricultural progression. The paper tries to examine how the mean value of output production as well as fluctuation in output production of some select crops has changed in NAIS period compared to pre-NAIS period in their major production states. The paper also tries to investigate whether functioning of NAIS has resulted in any significant structural break in output production of those crops in terms of Quandt Andrews (1993) and Bai and Perron (2003) test of break points for a time series data. The paper proposes a universal crop insurance scheme to augment output production, stabilise farm income, which can cause a turn-around of Indian agriculture. Journal: Int. In this study we examine the impact of fiscal policy on economic growth in the eight western Balkan countries for the period 2005-2018. The results suggest that fiscal revenues have a positive impact on the economic growth of the countries under consideration. The empirical results also suggest that tax increases have a relatively low negative impact on the flow of foreign direct investments in these countries. As well as the fact that taxes have an almost negligible impact on the formation of capital in countries taken into consideration that are notable for corruption and high tax evasion. Our study contributes to the debate on the factors that influence economic growth and the impact of different taxes on real GDP growth in Balkan countries. Journal: Int. It is shown that high level of indicators of effectiveness of state's activities does not necessarily lead to reduction of inequality; neither it means that government will spend money for social protection of population, education, and other humanitarian tasks. A dream of technological innovations and digital transformations faces the reluctance to spend money for education and science. As a result of analysis of the indicators of economic, innovative, and social development, the authors determine several main tendencies of the modern times, which 'connect' the situation of inequality and implementation of technological innovations. It seems that not in all cases one can speak of a positive effect of technological innovations, for very often they have a temporary, though long, effect, and leading to large gaps in the level of well-being. The current study examines the employment effect of India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (IAFTA) on Indian manufacturing sector. Of the different FTAs signed by India, IAFTA involves one of the largest trade volumes. Using CGE modelling framework of GTAP database the study conducts simulations by calibrating the trade liberalisation scenario as of 2018 between India and the ASEAN countries. IAFTA fetches employment growth in manufacturing. But the beneficiaries of this gain are the unskilled labour who benefit both in terms of greater employment and higher wages. Higher usage of unskilled labour in conjunction with increased imported inputs also fetches productivity gains for the country. However, skilled labour employment is hit. Overall impact of IAFTA on manufacturing sector remains positive due to increased trade and employment gains. Journal: Int.
